Game Changer - Using your CNC to make ACCURATE Bumpstops!!! Super Easy!
This video explains how I create accurate and consistent carves using bumpstops that were created by my CNC.
Create an array of holes the size of a 3/8” dowel. Drill 1 column along the Y - Axis and 1 row along the X- Axis, omitting the corner hole.
Fill the holes with the 3/8” dowel, leaving 3/8” proud, cutting away the rest.
You can now place your workpiece up against those dowels and create a constant XY.

Paint Engraving with Omtech Laser - Custom Hand-Painting a Firefighter Flag
Переглядів 1,5 тис.2 роки тому
It’s a while since I’ve posted a video to UA-cam. This wasn’t intended to be a YT video, but I figured it doesn’t hurt. I used an Omtech 100W C02 laser to make this flag. The design was created in Vectric Aspire and Engraved in Lightburn. I engraved a line around the Union, Flames, and Firefighter before I started staining. I used the lines to stain up to. Engraved the design at 400mms at 32%. ...

Installing a PWNcnc Dustboot on my X-Carve CNC Router
Переглядів 3,1 тис.4 роки тому
www.pwncnc.com In this video, I install the PWNcnc Dustboot on my X-Carve cnc. I replaced the SuckIt Dustboot with this one for a couple of reasons. The PWNcnc Dustboot has a rear hose attachment, which makes it easier to change our router bits. It’s made of higher quality material, thicker, sturdier, and darn right prettier. I show the installation of it, I show it in work, and I show off some...

How to Use a Z-Probe For an X-Carve
I'm starting mine next week
What kind of laser?
This was done on a 100w Red and Black Omtech
How many ipm you carve at?
That machine I used around 75. The machine I have now, 125-250.
how hard would it be to add an eagle to the carve. Also, I followed your video and it says that it will take almost 22 hrs for the wave roughing, using the same settings on my xcarve.
It wouldn’t be hard if you’re using Vcarve/Aspire as your CAD program. If you’re using Easel Pro, you’d need to create a whole new STL model. Play with your settings and see what you can improve
I have tried changing the settings and was able to incorporate the eagle in the flag. Even with using with your settings as shown in video, and no eagle it still says over 22 hours to complete. how did you get it to 3 hours? Is there a way to send you my files to look at?
Yes, you can email them to me. drew@americansouthdesigns.com@@beckybinder7689
What are the rough times for your roughing and finishing passes? I just followed your video and on a 10x22 flag it was about 3 hours for each pass (6hours total)
Roughing with depend on a few factors. I’ve gotten my roughing down below an hour. I run a bigger machine though…so it depends on your machine. There are also different roughing strategies that can improve it.
Not exactly two “separate” colors!!! How about multiple right up against each other. That’s the question. You could have done your project with chewing gum!!!
That would be some good chewing gum. You’re so kind!
Great Video
how do you do tiling for a 35X25 in vcarve pro 11 I have the xcarve pro
I’ve honestly never used the tiling function.
Im a newbie at cnc. Just came across your video. Best explained video ive seen so far. You went into detail si that a newbie cab understand exactly what your doing. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. Ty
Thanks. I'm glad I could helpful for you!
Great video. Where do you adjust the passes for the 1" ball nose? my trying to cut it all at once?
You have to make those adjustments in Vcarve or Aspire under the tool set up. You would adjust depth per pass and stepover percentage
Great job by the way!
Thanks!
How do you make sure you always start from the same xy?
Easel has a function that allows you to reuse XY. I never change it. For 3d designs, I always leave some waste material that will remain consistent across the carve...reusing it for XYand Z
Wonder how much ora mask and saw dust is trapped under that paint lol
This wasn't the best project to show this...I saw an opportunity as it arose...whoops!
What is the measurement of the X-axis aluminum structural profile?
This particular machine was 1800MM x 1000mm
what was the totaly run time for this?
I cannot remember. The detail pass can take several hours at a time.
How do you get you pocket and profile cuts to cut consistent depths over the waves? Does VC Pro auto adjust based on your STL file?
When setting up your toolpath there is an option that says "project on 3d model". It will follow curves of your Model.
Beautiful piece!
Thank you very much!
Thanks for the demo. Can't wait to try it.
Hope you enjoy it!
Bro says this is the software I use…it’s $800 .. this is the software no one watching this will ever have…
It's basically the industry standard. Quite a few people have it. I use Aspire now, which is their flagship program.
Literally every cnc hobbyist I know uses this program. Free programs are free for a reason.
An absolutely great video. Thank you for doing this!!!
You are welcome.
What company makes the dust boot your using ? Thanks
The company that made this dust boot is PWNCNC. They're great and the owner is awesome too.
Carved my very first topo of hawksbill mnt in NC now that easel added a 3d option, thanks to your walktrhough
That is awesome!
How to you re-probe the Z when you change the bit and cant set the probe on the surface anymore?
I generally leave excess material to use as a consistent probing spot. Cut it away when I am done with everything else.
Well done. I'm a model railroader and see so many model builders talk about using arduinos to automate you model railway layout - convinced me to try a kit. Having watched your youtube I may have given a little more thought to the Original - but at twice the price maybe not. I had already ordered the Elegoo Kit (I went for the Mega - for a few bucks more). Don't know if I'll try going through the lessons to learn Arduino programs and how to's, or if I'll just build the model railway projects I want. They are well explained in multiple websites and youtubes. And this "kid" is learning to play in my second childhood in my retired senior years, but I have grandkids who might want to play with Papa's new toys.
That's awesome! The grandkids will enjoy!
Is the “unlock/lock motors” buttons not available now? Or how did you get those on your screw?
Not really sure...
Can you show how you set up that 1 inch round nose bit in aspire
It would be set up as a 1" ballnose bit. I typically set them at 40% stepover when roughing out material. Speed and depth per pass will depend on your machine and the material you are milling.
Thanks for sharing, this is a great tip!
Where can I get that 3d wave file? I like that wave
Etsy
This 3D wave model is not available to the public. I have several others on my Etsy store, but this one I keep for my personal business.
What stain did you use? It came out great. I love the blue.
@xXTAZ1125Xx Minwax used to make these colors. I think they’re called Indigo Blue and Crimson red.
These are absolutely beautiful 😍
That machine does nice work.
Easy Button!
Excellent idea! Appreciate the share!
Gorgeous work!
Thank you! Cheers!
First of all, GO DAWGS! Second of all, great job! #goDawgs #sicEm
Voice over or written text explaining the process, type of end mill used for roughing cut and finishing cut, or anything else would help with the instructional part for those learning to use a CNC.
Yeah, I wasn’t intending on that with this video. It’s an old one too.
i have an xcarve using easel is there anyway i could get this file ready to go to easel from you
Unfortunately there are too many variables that won’t allow that.
As a firefighter/ emt this is bad ass. I love it.
Thank you for what you do!
what program are you using ? love your flag ..
I was using Vcarve pro in this video. I use Aspire now.
Do you rezero your bits on the 1" stock or the top of the waves?
Yea. I leave excess stock to rehome and rezero off of.
Great video!! Can I ask in what order do you start with on the bits? And what bit you end with? Thanks for the video.
I would Suggest starting with a roughing bit to remove waste, then a detail ballnose for the finish pass. If you’re cutting a design into the wavy model, that would be last
Once you probe it, and you move the router to the left corner for example for a XY zero, can you lower and raise the router or does it need to stay at the height it was at after the probing? I ask because I’ve done this, and it seems like my machine is carving in the air. Thanks!
If you’re using Vcarve/aspire, you need make sure you have an allowance set up in your roughing pass. If not, it will carve basically air when you cut the finish.
Dear, I follow your work and I really like it! this with the map - the relief is very interesting to me! could you explain to me in detail. I would really like to know how to do that. I have a small machine but I don't know how to make a relief. if you can train me please contact me. many thanks.
So simple, it's GENIUS!
This is incredible! How do you recommend a newbie to learn CNC ? Is there a training school?? So awesome thank you
Thank you! There are countless hours of videos on here. Some comes from experience as you progress.
I learned more from just watching than a lot of talk! Thank you
Goog tip, thanks you 👍👍🇳🇱 From Holland
Great video and nice work. I am just getting started in big carves like this and i appreciate the tips on cutting down on carve times with the 1" ball nose. Great suggestion.
The guy joined inventables so now he’s not selling anymore 🥵
Yep
Wow. Do you mind sharing what you did to get the stars on the union, beveled like this 1:00 ? I'm assuming a v carve bit, but how? I've tried that a couple time and obliterated my stars lol
Can you post a link where you got your z probe
triquetra-cnc.com/
Basically what you need is a point for XY which is common during bit changes. What I do is I mark a point on the material and after changing bit make sure to bring router bit to that point on XY axis so no matter what it will work every time.
